Having a father with a NFL background not only helps you stay grounded in football but in high school and making sound decisions.

That's the case for Brother Martin's Patrick Swilling Jr.

His father, former All-Pro linebacker for the New Orleans Saints and the Detroit Lions Patrick Swilling Sir, wants his son to make the right decisions including picking the right college.

Apparently that's not the only decision the two will be making.

One of the most immediate decisions Swilling Jr. is going to have to make is what sport is he going to play at the next level. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound athlete excels both on the basketball court and football field.

"Right now that is probably the first decision we have to make," Swilling told InsideTennessee.com. "I really like both, and being recruited heavily in both."

Swilling currently has eight official offers in football, including ones from Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Tulane, Colorado and Utah.

Does Swilling have interest in the University of Tennessee?

"I most definitely have interest in Tennessee," Swilling said. "The program is on the up rise with the new coaching staff. My dad is very impressed with the new coaching staff. He tells me that Monte Kiffin is the best in the business."

Swilling also likes the new high energy and excitement surrounding the Vol Football program.

"I'm hoping to take a visit and possibly camp there this summer," Swilling said. "The new coaching staff is really pumped up and excited about the possibilities surrounding the Tennessee Football program. Coach Frank Wilson is from Louisiana, everyone knows Coach Frank, he is a great coach and very easy to talk to. He is doing a great job recruiting me."

Swilling isn't the only one excited about Tennessee Football.

"My parents love Tennessee," Swilling said. "They want me to be my own person. My dad's influence has helped to drive me to be the very best I can be in everything."

Now Swilling has to decide which sport to play and then he will have to decide what campuses to visit.

Right now it looks as if the University of Tennessee stands a good chance of getting an official visit from the Louisiana athlete.
