This is the time of year that college coaches are making their rounds to high schools around the nation to evaluate upcoming juniors and sophomores one last time in person before the fall.
It's also a time for a new coaching staff to begin building relationships with high school football coaches and to double check their offer list.
Westlake High School linebacker Michael Taylor is excited about his newest offer from the Vols.
"The chance to play for Monte Kiffin in his pro style defense is a great opportunity for any football player," Taylor told InsideTennessee.com. "I will definitely be going to camp in Knoxville this summer."
Taylor, a 6-foot-0, 200-pound linebacker who runs a 4.5 forty, currently has offers from Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, NC State, LSU, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Miami, Stanford, Middle Tennessee and one from the Vols.
Another thing that Taylor is looking for is to experience a football game in Knoxville.
"I hear that the game day atmosphere is incredible at Rocky Top," Taylor said. "I definitely want to experience that."
Taylor has been impressed with Coach Thompson so far.
"He is very cool and down to earth," Taylor said. "I'm enjoying getting to know him, I can't wait to watch him coach in person."
Does Tennessee have a chance to make Taylor's top favorites?
"They aren't there yet, but yes they have a chance to get there," Taylor said. "They just offered so I don't know as much about them as I do some of the others. I still have plenty of time and expect to get to know the new coaching staff at one of their camps."
Who makes the list of Taylor's top three?
"Right now Georgia, LSU and Georgia Tech," Taylor said. "There are a lot of schools I like right now."
