Jones looking for break out senior season

InsideTennessee.com will be focusing on in state prospects over the next few weeks to introduce football fans to Tennessee's top prospects. Our experts will release a state's top 25 in mid June. Until then we will begin by profiling Harrison Jones of Cordova.

Last season ended on a sour note for Evangelical Christian and TE Harrison Jones.

After going 7-0, ECS dropped their last three games and Jones strained his MCL in the first loss of the season.

But Jones, healthy and unfazed, has put last season behind him and is ready to focus on this upcoming season and where he will be playing in 2010.

InsideTennessee.com recently asked him how his recruitment is going.

What are you looking for in a program? "Pretty much I'm looking for a place that I'll be comfortable for the next four years of my life," Jones said.

When asked if other factors—e.g. location and city—were going to weigh into his decision, Jones indicated that their importance was small. "Football's my main focus and I'm ready to work hard."

Jones has already visited Alabama, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt. He also plans to take a visit to Oklahoma in June.

"I've been in contact with Coach Wilson and am really excited about the visit." Coach Stoops and Offensive Coordinator Kevin Wilson no doubt have the 6'4 225-pound senior in their crosshairs with likely first-round pick TE Jermaine Gresham entering his last year of eligibility.

What about the Vols?

Are they showing interest? "To be honest, I haven't received a lot of interest from UT, aside from a few letters and e-mails," said Jones.

Has that surprised you? "Yeah a little. Coach Kiffin and his staff definitely seem like they're going to do big things. And of course, I wish them all the best."

Jones indicated that he plans to make his decision at the end of the summer when all the visits have been completed.

With his brother already enrolled at Alabama , it'll be interesting to see how the process plays out.
