InsideTennessee.com is proud to present it's weekly Recruiting Mail Box Feature, where we allow you our subscribers to ask our experts James Bryant and James Newman about everything concerning the Tennessee Volunteer Recruiting efforts.
Question: Do you believe Tennessee will have a top 5 recruiting class this year?
Answer:With the momentum that this coaching staff has began with, I feel there is a very good chance that the Volunteers will have at least a Top 5 recruiting class. This staff put together a Top 8 class in less than three months. If this team wins more than 8 ball games this season, they could finish even higher than that. The sky is the limit with this class and Ed Orgeron recruiting coordinator won't be satisfied with anything less than a No.1 overall rated class.
Question: Does Tennessee have an interest in Barry Bruneitti at any position?
Answer: Yes I believe they would like to recruit him as an athlete. The issue is that Barry stated in an interview we ran this week on InsideTennessee.com that he is intent on playing quarterback at the next level.
Question: Is our coaching staff looking at QB Michael Strauss of Florida?
Answer: From what I'm hearing from some of our Florida sources, Strauss is receiving some interest from the UT coaching staff. We will try to reach him this week for an interview.
Question: Is our coaching staff showing interest in Channing Fugate?
Answer: It doesn't appear so at this point in time. He is another one we will try to contact this week to see if he is planning on attending summer camp in Knoxville.
Question: QB ,OL,and DT's are the biggest needs next year.OL is as big a need as as QB ...could you give an update on OL candidates both High School and Junior college that you think we have a real good shot at signing. Hope there are 20 such candidates because several have recently committed elsewhere and we need 6/7 great OL in 2010.
Answer: You have one already in Jose Jose, a pro typical center at the next level. At the tackle position you have James Stone from Tennessee, Matt James of Ohio, Wes Rea out of Mississippi, Dillon Bonnell out of Colorado. Chaz Green, and T.J. Leifheit are a couple of other names to watch.
At Guard you have O.C. Brown who will become a Vol if he gets an offer. He will be at camp and will depend on how he performs. Look for Zac Tait to become a Vol also if offered. A.J. Cann is also another name to watch.
One name I'm hearing that the Vols have a good chance at is junior college tackle DeMarcus Underwood from Northeast Mississippi, the same school that John Brown is attending. Don't be surprised for a few new names to pop up in the junior college ranks especially out in California.
