Entertaining encore

When former Tennessee standout Chris Lofton scored 49 points in his Rocky Top League debut Monday night, fans wondered what he could possibly do for an encore.

He answered that question in emphatic fashion Wednesday night, hitting 18 of 32 shots (8 of 18 from 3) en route to 54 points. Still, it wasn't enough as Choice Spine dropped to 0-4 with a 136-129 loss to Ray's ESG. Current Vol Cameron Tatum chipped in 34 for Choice Spine.

Ex-Vol Ron Slay scored 21 points for Ray's. Current Vols Steven Pearl (20) and Kenny Hall (17) provided scoring support, along with ex-Vol and current Golden State Warrior player C.J. Watson (14).

Vol senior Tyler Smith found his 3-point stroke after some early-season misfires, bagging 5 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points in Richardson Construction's 122-119 defeat of First Tennessee.

UT's Wayne Chism continued his hot play with 25 points in leading HT Group to a 111-99 upset of the previously unbeaten News-Sentinel. Ex-Vol JaJuan Smith pumped in 32 points for the News-Sentinel, while current Vols Scotty Hopson (26) and Brian Williams (22) provided scoring support.

Tennessee sophomore Renaldo Woolridge of HT Group missed Wednesday's action with stitches in his chin, the result of a face-first fall in a collision with Lofton in Monday night's RTL action.
