One of the top kickers in the country appears to be nearing a decision on where he will be attending college the next few years.
Florida kicker Michael Palardy confirmed with InsideTennessee.com that he is down to two SEC schools and a decision could be forthcoming sometime later this week.
"It's between Tennessee and LSU," Palardy said Monday morning. "It's going to be a tough decision. I fell in love with Tennessee when I went up there and I have a great relationship with Coach Eddie Gran for over two years now. I went to LSU this past weekend and it's a great place also."
With 13 official offers in hand, Palardy wants to stay closer to home and has always wanted to play in the SEC and in the South.
"I'm a southern boy at heart," Palardy explained. "The SEC is best conference in the country, there is no better football played anywhere."
Palardy is impressed with the Tennessee Football program and the direction its headed in under new head coach Lane Kiffin.
"I'm really impressed with the coaching staff," Palardy said. "Coach Kiffin has assembled a great coaching staff. He is doing a great job and has plans on taking UT back to the top. Tennessee has always been on top of my list."
One of the reasons for that is Coach Gran.
"Coach Gran is great friends with my personal kicking coach," Palardy said. "Coach Gran is a strong Christian man and a very honest man. I know I will be well taken care of with him, my parents trust him a lot."
Palardy is known for is accuracy and leg strength. The talented kicker finished his junior season 76-78 on extra points, was four out of five on field goals and 98 percent of all his kickoffs were for touchbacks.
With the decision being down to two, we decided to ask Palardy what his favorite color was.
"I would have to say Orange," Palardy said laughing. "I'm actually wearing an orange UT shirt right now."
When will Palardy pull the trigger for the school of his choice.
"I plan on making a decision sometime this week, perhaps Thursday," Palardy said. "I want to make sure I'm making the right choice. Where ever I choose will be my new home for the next few years, I definitely want to feel comfortable there."
