An area of need for the Tennessee Volunteer Football team is to upgrade the talent level at linebacker.
Lane Kiffin and staff has made this position a priority with the Vols after some of the top linebackers in the country.
InsideTennessee.com caught up with Owens Tuesday night to get his thoughts on the Tennessee Football program.
"I like Tennessee a lot," Owens said. "I got the chance to check out the school on an unofficial visit during one of their camps. I really like their coaching staff, they are young and very down to earth. They have a lot of NFL experience, that's important to me."
Owens, a 6-foot-3, 228-pound athlete who runs a 4.5 forty, finished his junior season with 92 tackles, 18 sacks and three forced fumbles. He currently holds 15 official offers.
Does Owens have a top five?
One thing at Tennessee that impressed Owens is Kiffin's different approach to working out.
"They take a different approach to practice and weight lifting," Owens explained. "They use a lot of NFL techniques and methods, I like that. That will get me ready for the league."
Who is recruiting Owens the hardest?
"I would have to say Alabama, Tennessee and LSU," Owens said. "Coach (Lance) Thompson is a great guy. He is also the linebacker coach, I'm developing a great relationship with him. He is the type of coach I would love to play for."
