Such is the case for Quinton Alton. The 6'6, 245 lb. Alton is a large target at tight end, and he has been drawing interest from several big time schools.

The senior out of Hillcrest High School in Memphis is claiming offers from Tennessee, North Carolina and Notre Dame. Alton visited Knoxville this summer and was impressed with Rocky Top.

"I like Tennessee, it's a good school. I've been talking to Coach Orgeron a lot. He's the one that's been scouting me for them," Alton said. "They really like my size and my reach."

Alton has the size as a pass catcher that Lane Kiffin coveted while running the offense at Southern California. Tennessee is also in need of at least one tight end in Kiffin's 2010 recruiting class.

"The thing I want to improve most this season is making my first step quicker and really just getting faster all around," Alton said.

In addition to Tennessee, Alton plans to visit Georgia, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. One thing every school vying for his signature will have to consider is Alton's status on the hardwood.

Basketball was his first sport, and the 6'6 Alton plans on playing both sports in college.

"I probably won't make a decision until after basketball season so I can stay focused," he said.
