Tennessee has made Southern Florida its second home.

No I'm not saying that Lane Kiffin has a vacation house there, while some of their coaches do, I'm saying that the Volunteer coaching staff, especially Eddie Gran is making southern Florida Tennessee's new recruiting headquarters.

Out of the current 16 Volunteer commitments for its 2010 recruiting class four are from Florida, three from Miami and one from Ft. Lauderdale.

It's apparent that Florida athletes are starting to take notice about what Kiffin is building in Knoxville.

Florida junior prospect Wayne Lyons from Dillard High School is getting to know more and more about the Volunteers.

"I have 13 verbal offers right now," Lyons told InsideTennessee.com. "I have one from Notre Dame, one from Tennessee, Auburn and Purdue. I'm excited about my offer from Tennessee. They are a great school with a great tradition in the SEC."

Lyons, a 6-foot-0, 185-pound athlete who runs a 4.46 forty, is a former linebacker that will play safety for his high school team this season.

"Everyone wants me to play safety at the college level or outside linebacker," Lyons stated. "I will get a chance to play safety this season. It will prepare me for the next level."

Lyons hasn't been to Rocky Top, something he hopes changes in the near future.

"I haven't got a chance to see their campus yet," Lyons said. "I hope to get to one of their games at their place this fall."

Lyons also plans on being in attendance for the Tennessee vs. Florida game in the Swamp next month.

What intrigues Lyons about the University of Tennessee?

"There first year coach has made a lot of noise there," Lyons said. "Everybody is talking about Tennessee down here. He has put together a great coaching staff; the chance to get to play for Monte Kiffin is amazing."

Lyons admits that he grew up a Florida fan and that when he was younger the Orange and Blue was all he knew.

"My mom went there and my sister is going to school there now," Lyons said. "I grew up going to Florida games a lot."

Does that mean the Gators are his early favorite?

"No sir, I don't have any favorites right now," Lyons said. "Every school that has offered me is going to get consideration from me. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to take a visit to most of the schools before making my decision."
