How future foes fared

Eight of Tennessee's 11 remaining opponents were winners over the weekend. Here's a quick recap of how each one fared:

- UCLA (Sept. 12 in Knoxville) beat San Diego State 33-14. Redshirt freshman Kevin Prince completed 18 of 29 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown in his first college start but lost a fumble and two interceptions. S.D. State piled up 161 first-quarter yards and led 14-3 early but gained just 116 yards the final three quarters. Kai Forbush nailed 49- and 50-yard field goals for the Bruins.

- Florida (Sept. 19 in Gainesville) crushed Charleston Southern of the Football Championship Subdivision 62-3. Tim Tebow completed 10 of 15 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown before taking a seat.

- Ohio University (Sept. 26 in Knoxville) gave Connecticut a good game before bowing 23-16. Quarterback Boo Jackson completed 8 of 16 passes for 117 yards and rushed seven times for another 20 yards. Backup QB Theo Scott was 7 of 12 for 69 yards. Ohio U's pass defense was stout, limiting the Huskies to 11 completions in 24 attempts for 127 yards with three interceptions. UConn converted on just 3 of 14 third-down attempts.

- Auburn (Oct. 3 in Knoxville) led just 13-10 at halftime but finished strong to beat Louisiana Tech 37-13. Gus Malzahn's offense piled up 556 yards. Chris Todd completed 17 of 26 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

- Georgia (Oct. 10 in Knoxville) lost to nationally ranked Oklahoma State 24-10 in Stillwater. Senior Joe Cox, making his second career start, completed 15 of 30 passes for 162 yards.

- Alabama (Oct. 24 in Tuscaloosa) beat Virginia Tech 34-24 at the Georgia Dome. Leigh Tiffin hit field goals of 49, 34, 32 and 20 yards. Greg McElroy rallied from a 2-of-12 start to finish 15-of-30 passing for 230 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

- South Carolina (Oct. 31 in Knoxville) edged North Carolina State 7-3 in a Thursday night game that set offensive football back 10 years. The Gamecock defense limited the Wolfpack to 133 total yards.

- Memphis (Nov. 7 in Knoxville) trailed nationally ranked Ole Miss just 24-14 with 9:09 left but imploded down the stretch and lost 45-14. Arkelon Hall completed 15 of 30 passes for 110 yards but threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown 41 seconds shy of halftime to give Ole Miss a 17-7 lead at the break. Curtis Steele carried 19 times for 90 yards to pace the Tiger attack.

- Ole Miss (Nov. 14 in Oxford) beat Memphis 45-14 on Sunday afternoon. Jevan Snead's Heisman bid got off to a rocky start. He completed 12 of 22 passes for 175 yards with two TDs and two interceptions.

- Vanderbilt (Nov. 21 in Knoxville) drubbed visiting Western Carolina 45-0. Sophomore Larry Smith ran the offense well and completed 10 of 18 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown as the Commodores piled up 620 total yards.

- Kentucky (Nov. 28 in Lexington) beat Miami of Ohio 42-0 in Cincinnati. Mike Hartline completd 18 of 27 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
