IT picks the SEC

Wasting no time, six teams are diving into league action on Week 2 of the SEC football schedule.

Auburn hosts Mississippi State, Georgia hosts South Carolina and LSU hosts Vanderbilt. Three more SEC teams - Tennessee, Florida and Alabama - host non-conference opponents this Saturday.

Proving they know their stuff, InsideTennessee analysts Randy Moore and James Bryant went a combined 22-2 on last week's picks. Randy went 12-0 and James 10-2. Guest picker Dave Hooker of The Knoxville News-Sentinel and GoVolsXtra.com also went 10-2.

Because their knowledge of SEC football is almost as vast as their egos, the three are offering up another batch of predictions this week. Here they are:

Randy's picks

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AT ALABAMA: Calling a small school Florida International makes about as much sense as calling a small restaurant International House of Pancakes. Alabama 49, Florida International 10

MISSISSIPPI STATE AT AUBURN: The Tigers were awful on offense in 2008 and ran off their coach. The Bulldogs were awful on offense in 2008 and ran off their coach. Moral of story: If you want to keep your job, don't be awful on offense. Auburn 31, Mississippi State 21

TROY AT FLORIDA: Troy couldn't handle Dave Clawson's West Coast Offense last weekend, so I'm guessing it won't be able to handle Urban Meyer's Spread Option this weekend. Florida 45, Troy 7

SOUTH CAROLINA AT GEORGIA: The Bulldogs scored 10 points last weekend, the Gamecocks 7. Each fan who buys a concession stand soft drink at this game should receive two free No-Doz pills. South Carolina 13, Georgia 10

VANDERBILT AT LSU: The Tigers looked awful in barely beating Washington last weekend, while the Commodores looked terrific in trouncing Western Carolina. The fact this game's in Baton Rouge nullifies all of that, though. LSU 27, Vanderbilt 20

UCLA AT TENNESSEE: By upsetting the Vols last September, the Bruins set in motion a series of events that led UT to fire Phil Fulmer and hire Lane Kiffin. So this is how Kiffin shows his gratitude? Tennessee 31, UCLA 10

James' picks

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AT ALABAMA: Alabama 48, FIU 10.

MISSISSIPPI STATE AT AUBURN: Can MSU beat Auburn, could this be the upset for the SEC? Couldn't happen, don't count on it. Auburn, 31-28.

TROY AT FLORIDA: Florida playing Charleston Troy again, another big win 60-14.

SOUTH CAROLINA AT GEORGIA: Do we turn out the lights in Georgia after this one, should they lose to South Carolina? I think the Dawgs bite back, 21-18

VANDERBILT AT LSU: Come on Vandy, won't happen. LSU, 38-21

UCLA AT TENNESSEE: How many times will we play Rocky Top this week? Oh, I forgot. That's next week. I would say that Tennessee will beat UCLA by 21.

Dave's picks

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AT ALABAMA: Alabama, 48-10. Florida is the best team in the conference, but not by much.

MISSISSIPPI STATE AT AUBURN: Auburn, 34-17. The Bulldogs are better than I thought they would be but Gus Malzahn will own this game.

TROY AT FLORIDA: Florida, 50-13. A decent tuneup for the Vols.

SOUTH CAROLINA AT GEORGIA: Georgia, 20-16. The bounce back factor is huge. The Bulldogs are stung.

VANDERBILT AT LSU: LSU, 40-24. Vanderbilt will score some points but LSU is much more talented.

UCLA AT TENNESSEE: Tennessee, 33-20. The Vols are feeling good. UCLA is good in spots but not talented overall.
