How future foes fared

Eight of Tennessee's nine remaining opponents posted victories on Saturday, with the only loser being Game 11 foe Vanderbilt.

Here's a quick recap of how each future foe fared:

- Ohio University (Saturday in Knoxville) put some serious pass defense on Cal Poly, allowing just one completion in 11 attempts for 12 yards with two interceptions. Meanwhile, Bobcat QB Theo Scott completed 14 of 27 for 236 yards and three touchdowns as Ohio moved to 2-1 by winning 28-10.

- Auburn (Oct. 3 in Knoxville) took advantage of six turnovers to beat West Virginia 41-30. Chris Todd completed 16 of 31 passes for 284 yards and four touchdowns for the Tigers, now 3-0.

- Georgia (Oct. 10 in Knoxville) spotted Arkansas a 21-10 first-quarter lead, then roared back to beat the Hogs 52-41. Joe Cox completed 18 of 26 passes for 375 yards and a school record-tying 5 touchdowns.

- Alabama (Oct. 24 in Tuscaloosa) got some fancy passing from Greg McElroy (13 of 15, 176 yards) and backup Star Jackson (9 of 13, 87 yards) in a 53-7 blowout of North Texas. Mark Ingram picked up 91 rushing yards on just eight carries but Leigh Tiffin missed two of seven PATs.

- South Carolina (Oct. 31 in Knoxville) got 113 rushing yards on just 11 carries from freshman Jarvis Giles - originally a UT commitment - in a 38-16 pasting of Florida Atlantic. The Gamecocks, now 2-1, led just 17-16 at halftime.

- Memphis (Nov. 7 in Knoxville) scored 24 second-quarter points en route to a 41-14 defeat of UT-Martin. Tyler Bass completed 22 of 28 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran 16 times for 80 yards and another TD as the Tigers improved to 1-2. UT-M surrendered 157 yards on a mind-boggling 18 penalties.

- Ole Miss (Nov. 14 in Oxford) forced five turnovers and recorded an interception-return touchdown for the third consecutive game in trouncing Southeastern Louisiana 52-6. Jevan Snead completed 16 of 28 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns for the Rebels, now 3-0.

- Vanderbilt (Nov. 21 in Knoxville) showed no offense whatsoever in a 15-3 loss to visiting Mississippi State. The Commodores (1-2) punted on 10 of their first 11 possessions, completed just 12 of 32 passes and managed a mere 1.1 yards per carry (29 rushes, 33 yards). Their points came on a 20-yard field goal when they advanced just three yards after recovering a fumble at the MSU 6-yard line.

- Kentucky (Nov. 28 in Lexington) needed a 12-yard Mike Hartline-to-Randall Cobb touchdown pass with 4:28 left to subdue Louisville 31-27. Hartline finished 20 of 27 for 178 yards. Cobb caught six passes for 71 yards and added a six-yard rush from the Wildcat formation.
