UT netters win twice

Tennessee opened its tennis season by winning a double-header Saturday, beating Tennessee Tech and The Citadel by 7-0 scores.

Simon Rea, ranked No. 27 nationally, routed TTU's Gernot Fischer 6-2, 6-1 and drilled Citadel's Matt Stubbs 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 singles.

Mark Dietrich, ranked No. 56, dumped TTU's Razvan Illie 6-3, 6-1 and defeated Citadel's John Williams 6-2, 6-4.

Wade Orr was the only Vol to lose a set during the day, going three sets to beat Tech's Luis Aguerrevere 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 in No. 3 singles before clipping Citadel's Lawrence Tere 6-4, 6-4.

Tennessee returns to action with another doubleheader this Saturday, hosting Murray State and UT-Martin.
