IT picks the SEC

Two of the biggest games of the SEC football season are scheduled this weekend. Top-ranked Florida visits fourth-ranked LSU and third-ranked Alabama travels to 20th-ranked Ole Miss.

These two showdowns project to test the prognosticating talents of analysts Randy Moore and James Bryant. Both struggled a bit with last week's SEC Picks. Randy went just 4-3, missing on Tennessee's loss to Auburn, Mississippi State's loss to Georgia Tech and Georgia's loss to LSU. James also missed the Tennessee and Georgia games, finishing 5-2. Conversely, guest picker Dave Hooker of The Knoxville News-Sentinel and hit all seven selections last weekend. For the season Dave stands 36-6, Randy 34-8 and James 33-9.

Here are their picks for this weekend:

Randy's picks

ALABAMA AT OLE MISS: I don't see a 23-7 win over a Vandy team that is offensively impotent as a sign the Rebels have turned the proverbial corner. Still, I think they'll be hard to handle at home. Bama 24, Ole Miss 20.

AUBURN AT ARKANSAS: Tiger coordinator Gus Malzahn and Hog head coach Bobby Petrino have two of the most creative offensive minds around, so the defenses probably don't stand a chance in this game. Auburn 41, Arkansas 34.

FLORIDA AT LSU: Even if Tim Tebow plays he won't be carrying the ball 24 times, as he did against Tennessee. That takes away the Gators' most consistent weapon. LSU 21, Florida 20.

GEORGIA AT TENNESSEE: The Dawgs stop themselves with penalties, while the Vols stop themselves with turnovers. Look for UT's defense to stop Georgia a few times, as well. Tennessee 23, Georgia 20.

KENTUCKY AT SOUTH CAROLINA: Is it just me or are the Gamecocks starting to get a little bit scary? South Carolina 31, Kentucky 17

HOUSTON AT MISS. STATE: The Bulldogs outplayed No. 4 LSU two weeks ago but choked, then choked against Georgia Tech last weekend. Arggghhhhh! Houston 27, Miss. State 21

VANDERBILT AT ARMY: Watching the Commodore and Cadet offenses is a sure cure for insomnia. Vandy 34, Army 17.

James' picks

ALABAMA AT OLE MISS: The last two times in Oxford Alabama came away very very lucky with a win, even the officials helped them out with one of them. This is the season for payback, Rebels pull this one out at home 28-24

AUBURN AT ARKANSAS: Malzahn returns home to Arkansas, expect this to be an offensive showdown. Auburn wins 48-44

Tebow or no Tebow? I would bet with Tebow. 31-28 Florida over LSU

GEORGIA AT TENNESSEE: Tennessee matches up better with Georgia than they do with a lot of folks. Expect the Vols to win this one 24-21.

KENTUCKY AT SOUTH CAROLINA: Can the Ole Ball Coach pull off this one, should be a good matchup. Can Kentucky win on the road, doubtful, Gamecocks 31-28.

HOUSTON AT MISS. STATE: I have to go with my Coogs on this one, 45-41 in a shootout.

VANDERBILT AT ARMY: Vandy better win this one, if not they won't get too many other opportunities. 24-14

Dave's picks

ALABAMA AT OLE MISS: The Rebels will play well but it won't be enough. Bama, 30-23

AUBURN AT ARKANSAS: Arkansas will catch the Tigers feeling good about themselves. Arkansas, 34-30

FLORIDA AT LSU: Tebow or no, Florida wins. 23-20

GEORGIA AT TENNESSEE: The Bulldogs are hungry. The Vols are searching. Georgia, 23-16

KENTUCKY AT SOUTH CAROLINA: South Carolina can 'D' up like some of those old Rick Pitino teams. Gamecocks, 20-13

HOUSTON AT MISS. STATE: Rough day for the Bulldogs. Houston, 30-13

VANDERBILT AT ARMY: Vandy in a valiant effort, 20-18.
