Tennessee Top 10

With apologies to David Letterman, here are the top 10 reasons Tennessee lost 12-10 to Alabama Saturday in Tuscaloosa:

10. The Tide had more quality players.

9. Bama's Mark Ingram gained 51 more yards (99) on his 18 carries than Tennessee's Montario Hardesty (48) did.

8. Daniel Lincoln doesn't get the elevation on his field-goal attempts he did before injuring his quadricep earlier this fall.

7. Six-foot-five Terrence Cody was standing between Lincoln's right foot and the uprights ... and Tennessee couldn't seem to block him on field-goal tries.

6. Bama's Leigh Tiffin had just enough leg to clear the crossbar on field goals of 50 and 49 yards.

5. The Tide picked Saturday to rediscover receiver Julio Jones (7 catches, after just 13 in the first seven games combined).

4. Beating the No. 1 team in America on its home field ain't easy.

3. The Vols broke out in a rash of penalties (8 for 68 yards), whereas Alabama was almost flag-free (1 for 10 yards).

2. Tennessee advanced into Tide territory eight times but came away with just one touchdown and one field goal.

1. Bama was 4-for-4 on field-goal tries. Tennessee was 1-for-4.
