IT picks the SEC

First, the SEC office asks media to stop calling the Georgia-Florida game "The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party." Then it tells coaches to stop criticizing the officials or risk getting suspended.

Next thing you know, the league office will tell us to stop predicting the outcomes of SEC games each week - thereby denying thousands of readers the pearls of wisdom doled out by InsideTennessee analysts Randy Moore and James Bryant each week, along with News-Sentinel guest picker Dave Hooker.

Fortunately, that dark day has not yet arrived. Dave went 5-1 on last week's picks, improving his season record to 51-10. Randy went 4-2 and stands 47-14. James also went 4-2 and stands 46-15.

By the way, the biggest game on this week's schedule is the game that used to be known as The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

Here are the predictions for this week:

Randy's picks

EASTERN MICHIGAN AT ARKANSAS: I didn't know Eastern Michigan had a football team. Arkansas 49, EMU 7

OLE MISS AT AUBURN: The Rebels run hot and cold but the Tigers have been ice cold the past three games. Ole Miss 24, Auburn 20

GEORGIA VS. FLORIDA (JACKSONVILLE): Minus wideouts Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy, Florida is not the juggernaut it was a year ago. But Georgia has a weak defense. Florida 31, Georgia 21

MISSISSIPPI STATE AT KENTUCKY: The Bulldogs have made a habit of playing just well enough to lose by a few points. This week they get over the hump. Miss. State 27, Kentucky 23

TULANE AT LSU: The less said about this game the better. LSU 42, Tulane 10

SOUTH CAROLINA AT TENNESSEE: The Vols looked great in trouncing Georgia 45-19 and losing 12-10 at Bama the past two games. Still, beating Spurrier is never easy. Tennessee 20, SC 17

GEORGIA TECH AT VANDERBILT: When are the Dores going to learn that you're supposed to fill your non-conference schedule with directional schools? Georgia Tech 31, Vandy 10

James' picks

EASTERN MICHIGAN AT ARKANSAS: Arkansas in an easy one 45-14.

OLE MISS AT AUBURN: Auburn pulls the upset here at home, 35-28

GEORGIA VS. FLORIDA (JACKSONVILLE): Can Georgia pull off the upset, they better if they want to save some of their coaches. Bulldogs in an upset 28-24.

MISSISSIPPI STATE AT KENTUCKY: State beats Kentucky 28-24

TULANE AT LSU: LSU in an easy one

SOUTH CAROLINA AT TENNESSEE: Tennessee wins this one if they don't beat themselves 35-21

GEORGIA TECH AT VANDERBILT: Georgia Tech wins the Brainy Bowl 45-14

Dave's picks

EASTERN MICHIGAN AT ARKANSAS: The only teams that are successful from the state of Michigan are workaholics - and they're not even that good. Arkansas, 40-10

OLE MISS AT AUBURN: Auburn is reeling, but they'll get it back on track this week in a classic SEC West upset. Auburn, 24-23

GEORGIA VS. FLORIDA (JACKSONVILLE): The Bulldogs will put a scare in Florida but not enough to beat the Gators. Florida, 27-20

MISSISSIPPI STATE AT KENTUCKY: MSU coach Dan Mullen is too worried about officiating. Sound familiar? Kentucky, 17-13

TULANE AT LSU: The Tigers are rolling. They'll keep rolling this week. LSU, 33-10

SOUTH CAROLINA AT TENNESSEE: The Vols have found some things that work offensively and their defense is playing well. UT, 23-10

GEORGIA TECH AT VANDERBILT: A great coaching matchup. Georgia Tech, 20-17.
