SEC coaches tab two Vols

If the SEC Coaches' preseason all-conference balloting is any indication, Tennessee is becoming a pretty good state to visit if you're seeking premium basketball talent.

Three natives of the Volunteer State were unanimous selections to the Coaches' preseason All-SEC team, with another native Tennessean making the second team.

The first-teamers are Tennessee's Tyler Smith (Pulaski), Mississippi State's Jarvis Varnado (Brownsville) and Ole Miss' Terrico White (Memphis). The second-teamer is Tennessee's Wayne Chism (Jackson).

Smith previously made the SEC Media Days preseason All-SEC first-team; Chism was snubbed by the writers and broadcasters.

Smith, who transferred to UT after one year at Iowa, has scored 1,079 points in his first two years on The Hill to rank 39th on the program's all-time scoring list. Chism, who has spent three years in the program, ranks 36th with 1,141 points.

In addition to the Vols, the Kentucky Wildcats, Ole Miss Rebels and South Carolina Gamecocks also had two players each earn either first- or second-team recognition.
