Tobias Harris signs with Tennessee Vols

With basketball's early signing period ending Wednesday night at midnight, Tobias Harris' decision announced on ESPNU on Thursday evening left no doubt where he was headed. Wearing a shade of orange shirt and tie, Harris made Volunteer fans happy when he said he was headed to Rocky Top to play his college basketball career. "I'm going to the University of Tennessee," Tobias Harris proudly said. "I really like Bruce Pearl a lot. I love the family atmosphere in Knoxville."

Harris, the No. 2 rated power forward in the country, is currently ranked as a five-star prospect. experts cite as Harris' strengths his versatility to play multiple positions, and his work ethic.

Weaknesses include his midrange game and his counter moves.

Harris has been a high-major prospect since his sophomore season, and he exploded as a rising senior. He got his body trimmed, and it opened up all sorts of variations in his game. He has a good shooting touch, rebounds his position and is expected to develop into a multi-position guy down the road. Harris brings versatility and competitiveness to the forward spot, and his work ethic is exemplary.

Harris transferred from Dix Hills West High School to Long Island Lutheran for his junior season and has returned to Dix Hills for the 2009-10 season.

Harris chose Tennessee over the likes of in-state school Syracuse and Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Louisville.

According to Harris, he signed his national letter of intent Wednesday night at 11:56 p.m.
