IT picks the SEC

This might be a good weekend to take the family on that out-of-town trip you've been promising to make. Of the six games on this Saturday's SEC football schedule only one promises any real drama.

LSU travels to Oxford to face an Ole Miss team that features the country's hottest player, Dexter McCluster. The 5-9, 170-pounder ran for a school-record 282 yards last weekend vs. Tennessee. Counting 42 yards on four catches, he totaled 324 all-purpose yards.

Two games that could be competitive find Mississippi State facing Arkansas at Little Rock and Kentucky visiting Georgia. Meanwhile, Florida hosts Florida International and Alabama hosts Chattanooga in what shape up as frightful mismatches, and Tennessee hosts a Vanderbilt team that is winless in SEC play.

InsideTennessee.com analysts Randy Moore and James Bryant went 5-2 on last weekend's picks. So did guest picker Dave Hooker of The Knoxville News-Sentinel. Each prognosticator missed on UT vs. Ole Miss and Auburn vs. Georgia. Dave now stands 70-13 for the season, Randy 65-18, James 64-19.

Here are their projections for this week:

Randy's picks

CHATTANOOGA AT ALABAMA: Nick Saban could rest Mark Ingram, Greg McElroy and Julio Jones for the finale vs. Auburn and still win this one handily. Alabama 41, Chattanooga 7

MISS. STATE VS. ARKANSAS (LITTLE ROCK): I'm guessing Ryan Mallett could throw better left-handed than Tyson Lee can right-handed. Arkansas 31, Miss. State 17

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AT FLORIDA: Isn't there a law against this? If not, there should be. Florida 63, FIU 7

KENTUCKY AT GEORGIA: The Dawgs beat Auburn with their backs to the wall last weekend. Their backs are still to the wall, so they should prevail again. Georgia 31, Kentucky 23

LSU AT OLE MISS: Now that Houston Nutt has figured out that Dexter McCluster can play, maybe he'll keep him involved in the offense. Ole Miss 24, LSU 20

VANDERBILT AT TENNESSEE: After allowing 42 points against Ole Miss, the Vol defense will get its confidence restored vs. the offensively challenged Dores. Tennessee 31, Vanderbilt 6

James' picks

CHATTANOOGA AT ALABAMA: BJ Coleman gets to play Alabama after all, Coleman won't be enough, Crimson 45-14

MISS. STATE VS. ARKANSAS (LITTLE ROCK): Dawgs in an upset 28-21.

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AT FLORIDA: The Florida will win this one 52-17.

KENTUCKY AT GEORGIA: Can Wildcats move up in the SEC East Standings, probably not, Dawgs 31-28.

LSU AT OLE MISS: No matter how good Ole Miss looked last week, they won't be able to get up two weeks in a row. LSU 21-17.

VANDERBILT AT TENNESSEE: This in state battle could be close, lets hope not. UT 35-14 over Vandy.

Dave's picks

CHATTANOOGA AT ALABAMA: This is not a tough pick. Alabama, 48-3

MISS. STATE VS. ARKANSAS (LITTLE ROCK): The Razorbacks are thinking bowl positioning. Arkansas, 35-20

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AT FLORIDA: This is also not a tough pick. Florida, 45-17

KENTUCKY AT GEORGIA: Georgia is trying to salvage its season. Not even Willie Martinez can stop the momentum - this week. Bulldogs, 24-20

LSU AT OLE MISS: Ole Miss will be flying high off a big win against Tennessee...until about halftime. LSU, 34-20

VANDERBILT AT TENNESSEE: The Vols will start feeling better on senior night. Vols, 45-6
