Derek Dooley hasn't been in Knoxville for over a week and there has been a lot of focus who will join him on Rocky Top as his defensive coordinator.
Who will run the Vols defense in 2010?
InsideTennessee.com has been doing a little research on our own, coming up with a defensive coordinator Hot Board for all Vol fans to talk about.
It's our belief that one of the following five guys will end up in Knoxville, the question is who will it be?
Ruffin McNeil-Former Texas Tech defensive coordinator and interim head coach for the Red Raiders, has shown great improvement since he has taken over the defensive reigns in Lubbock. Connections, he and Eric Russell, the Vols current special team's coordinator coached together, and its thought that Ruffin may have interest in the position.
Sal Sunseri-Current Alabama linebacker coach, Coach Sunseri has been at Alabama for one season, he was at LSU in 2000 with Nick Saban and Derek Dooley. He has a great reputation as a defensive line coach and linebacker coach, he was at the Carolina Panthers was he was the assistant head coach for Defense for the Panthers.
Eric Shumann-Current Alabama Birmingham defensive coordinator. He spent three years at SMU as the defensive coordinator while Dooley served as the WR coach for the Mustangs. Shumann has also spent time as the defensive coordinator at Tulane.
Bob Sanders-Sanders is the defensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills. He joined them in 2009 after coaching for four years with the Green Bay Packers, four years with the Miami Dolphins, and after 11 years with the Florida Gators. He was let go by the Green Bay Packers following a disappointing 2008 season.
Sanders was hired on January 29, 2009 by the Buffalo Bills as defensive line coach. Sanders worked under Steve Spurrier for 11 years at Florida. He also worked under veteran defensive coordinator Jim Bates for 5 years, from 2001-2004 at Miami coaching linebackers, and in 2005, as defensive ends coach in Green Bay.
Joe Barry-Barry is the linebackers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the former defensive coordinator for the National Football League Detroit Lions. He is the son of former Detroit Lions assistant offensive line coach Mike Barry and the son-in-law of former Detroit Lions Head Coach Rod Marinelli. Barry played linebacker at the University of Southern California.
Prior to coaching at Detroit, Barry held assistant coaching positions within the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers franchises, and in college football at the University of Southern California, Northern Arizona University and UNLV.
