With less than 72 hours left before National Signing Day, Volunteer fans are foaming at the mouth in anticipation of some last-minute surprises.
How will Derek Dooley and his newly assembled class close out with the remaining key prospects still left on the Vols wish list?
Tennessee picked up three commitments on Sunday during UT's last official weekend, taking the total of Vol commitments to 24.
With less than 15 days on the job, Dooley and crew must continue to do their best to save and keep who's currently on the Vols commitment list - specifically the likes of J.C. Copeland, who took an official visit to LSU this past weekend, and the Tigers are making a major move on the Georgia defensive lineman.
The Vols can ill afford to lose another defensive lineman, a position that has taken a hit after Lane Kiffin and Ed Orgeron's abrupt departure.
At this point Copeland seems to be the only one that the Vols are in jeopardy of losing, especially since Ralph Williams seems to be headed elsewhere.
The Vols got some much needed good news when Texas safety Eddrick Loften didn't go west this weekend and has apparently ended his recruitment, saying he is 100 percent a Vol.
Brown, who had been hard to reach since his official visit to Knoxville last weekend, confirmed that he had a great visit and that he didn't take another visit anywhere this past weekend. He told InsideTennessee.com his plans are to sign with Tennessee on Wednesday.
Who are still viable options for the Vols on signing day?
One to watch on Wednesday to pull a Tennessee hat on signing day is Maplewood's James Stone.
After it appeared that Stone had made the Vols an afterthought, Dooley and staff made up major ground during his official visit last weekend. It appears that Stone and his high school liked neither Kiffin nor Orgeron. Their departure has aided in the Vols new chances for the talented offensive lineman.
Could Tennessee pull off two in a row?
Will Da'Rick Rogers follow his best friend and current teammate Nash Nance to Rocky Top?
Georgia fans say not a chance. Big obstacle to overcome is the fact that his high school coach's father is the director of football operations for the Dawgs. This one may be closer than most expect, but something tells me he chooses orange over red, and if he watched this past year's game he definitely would.
James Bryant's pick: Rogers to UT, Chris Price's pick: Rogers to UT.
The next prospect in play is former Tennessee commitment Markeith Ambles.
Ambles appeared to be rock solid to the Vols, and then Kiffin and Orgeron left town. Will he follow his favorite coaches out west or will he stay at Rocky Top. Or will he go elsewhere. Some are saying North Carolina, and Ambles has confirmed he will choose between UT, North Carolina and USC.
James Bryant's pick: Ambles to North Carolina, Chris Price's pick: Ambles to Tennessee.
Chaz Green appeared to be headed to Rocky Top, before the previous staff departure. Now the question is will he end up at Florida or will he surprise a lot of people and pick Tennessee?
The Vols definitely need Green, there is no doubt about that.
James Bryant's pick: Green to Florida, Chris Price's pick: Green to Florida.
Damien Robinson was headed to Knoxville on Friday morning; Mother Nature must not be a Tennessee fan. The weather turned the talented offensive lineman around and sent him back to his Memphis home. Now the question is will he pick a school he has never taken an official visit to? Vol fans are hoping he will, while Mississippi State fans hope he won't.
James Bryant's pick: Robinson to Mississippi State, Chris Price's pick: Robinson to Mississippi State.
Where will J.C. Copeland end up? Will he leave the Vols at the altar?
InsideTennessee.com answered that question Monday night with breaking news that Copeland ruled out LSU and was headed to Rocky Top. So far so good on our picks, lets hope the streak continues.
Here are our thoughts on the situation.
James Bryant's pick: Copeland to Tennessee, Chris Price's pick: Copeland to Tennessee.
