The Tennessee men's golf team lead by head coach Jim Kelson will head out to the left coast ranked #11 in the country by Golfweek magazine.
The Vols hope to continue the same success that led them to two team victories during the fall of the 2009-2010 season.
"We were really pleased to go out and win twice. Winning two of four tournaments, that was a good start," said Kelson. "Hopefully that sets us up to have a really super spring."
Senior captain and Knoxville native David Holmes will lead the Volunteers into the second half of the season.
"David Holmes was named out captain this year, and I can't say enough about the job David has done," said Kelson. "He has done a great job with leadership in every regard."
Holmes finished the fall with a stroke average of 72.58 and better par in five of twelve rounds. His best finish was a tie for 6th.
The Vols leading scorer Robin Wingardh (71.67) hopes to continue the fall success that led him to be the only Volunteer to finish in the top 20 of all four fall tournament.
The Volunteers squad will travel six players to sunny California, Cameron Lawerence, Robin Wingardh, James Brannen, Darren Renwick, Jay Vandeventer and David Holmes.
Holmes and the Volunteers will make their spring debut at various tee times on Sunday morning at beautiful Pelican Hill Golf Club just outside of Los Angeles, California.
