New Inside Tennessee Sports Radio Show

A new one-hour sports radio talk show will begin today at 10 a.m. in Knoxville. Are you ready? All Vol fans are invited to tune into the new InsideTennessee Sports Radio Show that will cover nothing but the Orange and White. Tune in to ESPN Knoxville 1180 AM. James Bryant of and Wes Rucker of the Chattanooga Times Free Press will be the show's co-hosts.

The new sports talk show will hit the airwaves in Knoxville on Monday morning, focusing on just one key thing: the sports programs of the University of Tennessee.

The new one-hour sports show, called Inside Tennessee Sports radio, will only cover things Orange and White.

Following a similar format and direction of the new, the affiliate for Tennessee, Co-host James Bryant of the website and Chattanooga Times Free Press Vol beat writer Wes Rucker are excited about the daily radio show.

"It's an opportunity of a lifetime," said James Bryant of "To join forces with one of the best beat writers in the business in Wes Rucker, this show should be a fun and informative show for all Tennessee Volunteer fans."

Bryant, who will serve as the Vol fan of the show, is excited about covering the Tennessee Volunteers.

"I'm a huge fan of the Vols. I will admit I love wearing Orange and White and singing Rocky Top" Bryant said. "It's exciting to have a full-time job covering sports and a team that I truly respect and love following. What else could a person ask for. My family loves it here in Knoxville and I hope to one day retire here; until then it will be my honor to cover the Tennessee Vols. Wes has already accused me of wearing orange tinted glasses, I don't have a pair yet, but might have to get a pair."

The daily show will be on the air on newly owned ESPN 1180 AM from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Vol fans on the Internet can listen to a live stream via the ESPN 1180 Sports Website at

Rucker, who is known for his Twitter and professional news coverage of the Vols, is also happy to have the opportunity to host a daily radio show about the University of Tennessee.

"I hope people are as excited about the new radio show as we are," Rucker said. "Personally I'm looking forward to breaking into the radio market in Knoxville. As someone who covers Tennessee on a daily basis and has for years, I think my experience and relationship at UT will bring an unique new voice to this radio market. I like to consider myself a professional first, but obviously we are going to have a lot of fun with this show."

Several big name guests will be regulars on the show, including's Chad Simmons, ESPN's Bruce Feldman and several other news and media personalities.

"One feature we will have each day is an interview with a 2011 prospect Monday through Thursday," Bryant said. "On Fridays we will have an interview with a future Vol, one of the current 2010 Tennessee signees."

Another feature of the show will be daily practice reports of spring football, interviews with players and the Vols new coaching staff.

"It's going to be a fun show," Bryant said. "If you're a Tennessee fan this show is for you. It's a fun and great time to be a Vol."

ESPN 1180 AM Knoxville is under new ownership. Jason Bailey, an avid Tennessee Volunteer fan, bought the station in the last few months.

"It's Jason's goal to make this the very best sports radio station in Knoxville and the surrounding areas," Bryant said. "To be on the same station with Tony Basilio is definitely a honor. Terry Fair and Fred White do an outstanding job with their Double Coverage show. It's a great lineup, we are very happy to be a part of this great team."

The station's new lineup consists of the InsideTennessee Sports Radio show at 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Tony Basilio from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., followed by Double Coverage, Terry Fair and Fred White from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. National syndicated show host Paul Finebaum will be on the air from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
