Cats better than last time

When Tennessee hosted Kentucky on Jan. 8, the Wildcats were 9-3 and just 11 days removed from an 18-point loss at Louisville. Despite those favorable circumstances, the Vols fell 74-71. That does not bode well for Wednesday night's rematch.

This time the Cats are on a 16-game winning streak. They're 12-0 in SEC play. And they're playing at Rupp Arena, where they are just about invincible. Clearly, this isn't the same team Tennessee faced in early January.

''They've found themselves a little bit,'' Vol head man Buzz Peterson said. ''Their chemistry is better and (Cliff) Hawkins has played more games.''

Still, the big difference in the Wildcats, then and now, is the play of guards Keith Bogans and Gerald Fitch.

''Bogans and Fitch are the key,'' Peterson said. ''They've played extremely well.''
