Anderson loves Rocky Top

Tennessee leads for several high school prospects accross the region. One Georgia prospect that has the Vols leading for his services is Powder Springs tight end Rory Anderson. InsideTennessee caught up with Anderson this past weekend at the Badger Sports Regional 7-on-7 tournament to give all Vol fans exclusive coverage and our take on Anderson. Go "Inside" for the latest.

Derek Dooley and his Tennessee coaching staff are definitely focusing on recruiting a state he is very familiar with. Dooley spent several years in Georgia as his father Vince Dooley was the head coach there.

One Georgia native that has the Vols leading the way for his services is McEachern High School's tight end Rory Anderson.

InsideTennessee.com got the opportunity to watch Anderson in person this weekend at the Badger Sports 7-on-7 Tournament and a chance to do a one-on-one interview with the talented prospect.

"I went up to Tennessee a couple of weeks ago," Anderson said. "I really enjoyed my trip a lot. There isn't much I don't like about Rocky Top."

According to Anderson, Tennessee coaches are telling him that he is one of their top recruiting priorities.

"It makes me feel good to know I'm a top priority for them," Anderson said. "I stay in contact with Tennessee the most. I email back and forth with their coaching staff every day."

Anderson, who currently has 12 or 13 offers, listed Tennessee as his leader, followed by South Carolina, Louisville, and Virginia.

The tall 6-foot-5, 205-pound athlete realizes that he needs to add some weight to play the position the Vols are recruiting him at.

"They want me to gain some weight," Anderson said. "They definitely want me to play tight end."

Could he play at the next level as a big wide receiver?

"They feel that I have the speed to play either way," Anderson said. "They like my blocking skills and my hands."

Anderson was impressed with all the construction at the University of Tennessee.

"They are constantly building new things there," Anderson said. "I really like their new locker room and all the improvements they are making to the stadium."

THE INSIDE TAKE ON RORY ANDERSON

A big target that has great hands.

He reminds me a lot of Matt Milton but with better hands, he could play a hybrid tall wideout, but has the frame to put on a lot of weight to play tight end at the next level. Very talented young man, runs routes really well and appears to be a great leader and difference maker on and off the field.

Appears to have high 4.56 speed to 4.6.

Has good fundamentals, expected to excel at the next level.
