Now that the recruiting process is taking place for Briarcrest Christian's Hunter Long, is the longtime Vol fan having second thoughts about a possible career in Knoxville?

Long has an offer from Memphis, but he is hoping for one from Tennessee.

"I grew up orange and white, I have always been my own man," Long told InsideTennessee.com. "Just because my brother goes to Georgia doesn't mean I will. I want to go out and build my own reputation."

Long got a visit from Tennessee wideout coach and Memphis-area recruiter Charlie Baggett on Thursday.

"It was good to see him come by the school," Long said. "Hopefully my recruitment by them will pick up."

Long attended the Vols' Junior Day and came away a little disappointed in his experience.

"I was hoping to get the chance to meet Derek Dooley and the offensive line coach," Long explained. "It was one of their first events and everyone didn't get a chance to meet the new coaching staff. It was a little disappointing; I will be honest with you. They haven't recruited me as hard as several other schools have."

Those schools showing him the most attention right now include Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas and Mississippi State.

Coach Baggett has made it very clear with Long that the Vol coaching staff wants him to attend summer camp in Knoxville.

"He brought a camp invitation by the school," Long said. "Right now I'm not sure what camps I will attend yet. We haven't made out my summer schedule."

Coaches from Memphis, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Mississippi State, Arkansas State and Tennessee made stops by the school this week.

"Recruiting is definitely picking up for me," Long said. "Hopefully it will pick up by the Vol coaching staff also. That would be nice."
