One of Memphis' top athletes has one school out front as his early favorite.
For Memphis East wideout Robert Fields, there is one school that he has been thinking about since he has been in high school.
"I have wanted to go to Ole Miss ever since my freshman year," Fields told InsideTennessee.com. "Just something about their program, they have been really good since Houston Nutt arrived in Oxford."
Fields, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound athlete who runs a 4.5 40, had a big junior season.
"I have over 500 yards in receiving," Fields said. "We are going to have a pretty good team this fall."
Is there another SEC school that intrigues Fields?
"I like Tennessee a lot also," Fields acknowledged. "Their coaching staff is showing me a lot of love right now. One of their coaches came by our scrimmage last week."
Fields plans on making a trip to Rocky Top next month.
"I will definitely go to one of their camps in early June," Fields said. "I'm looking forward to it."
Fields wants to find a friendly and exciting fan environment.
"I want find the place that I feel that I fit in at," Fields said. "I want it to feel like home. I'm looking for a great college environment."
Fields, who was dealing with an injured leg at Saturday's combine, still ran a 4.6 on a slow grass field.
The talented wideout is also a member of Team Tennessee, which qualified for a national berth at the Badger 7-on 7 tournament to be held again at the University of Alabama on the Fourth of July.
"I really enjoyed the 7-on-7 tourney," Fields said. "I got the chance to see how I matched up with some of the best talent in the country. I feel I did really well."
