"He's been offered early by Georgia, Florida State, and Clemson," said Coach Segraves. "He went to summer camp at FSU last year. He was supposed to go to Clemson's junior day last week, but he is still in the basketball playoffs with his team, so he couldn't make it."
Thaxton plays center for Hart County's basketball team at 6-2, and he averages roughly 12 rebounds a game for a team in the state semi-finals this weekend. Tenacious is a good word to describe him.
Who is in line to pick up this linebacker? Like many of the top prospects, he will have a host of schools early, but two stand out right now.
"I'm hearing the most from Georgia and FSU," said Thaxton. "I want to try and camp with both of them this summer. Those are my two favorite schools. I also like LSU, Notre Dame and Miami. Those are my top five, and I'm also looking a little bit at Tennessee and Clemson."
Thaxton is a prospect that gets it done on and off the field. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and the standout student athlete has big things ahead of him in the future.
