Brett Weyman: Will he be a Vol?

Tennessee, along with two other SEC powerhouses (Georgia and Alabama), have their sights set on a prep quarterback that they would love to sign. Coach Phillip Fulmer will have a chance to make his pitch this coming weekend as the Vols kickoff their 2003 spring practice.

Brett Weyman (6-3, 225, 4.6) of Fork Union Prep, Virginia has some unbelievable upside potential. His original Fork Union film was sent out in November and December, but it was of very poor quality and it really did not do his talents a real justice. After getting good quality film from three opposing teams, his new highlight film went out around National Signing Day.

This new highlight film has really shown exactly what has been there all along and that was a super athletic quarterback talent with an exceptional cannon for an arm. Every coach that has seen this new highlight film has been interested and highly intrigued by his enormous upside potential.

Weyman will visit Tennessee on an official visit on March 6 and 7. He then will fly to Alabama for a March 8 and 9 visit. His last official visit will be on March 21 and 22 when he will fly to Ruston, Louisiana to visit the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

All three schools are definitely in the picture. Tennessee needs some immediate depth at their quarterback position, as does Alabama. The Bulldogs threw the football around 600 times last season and in 2003, they will have their second Heisman candidate in the last four years, so they are definitely in the mix.
