It's been a long road for one future Vol to get to Knoxville and back to Division I football.

Former Oregon tight end Mychal Rivera is ready to get back to the upper echelon of football. He will get that opportunity when he arrives in Knoxville next week.

Rivera told InsideTennessee.com on Thursday morning that he will be leaving the state of California early next week after graduating from junior college.

"Everything is going great," Rivera said. "I will graduate early next week and then will be on my way to Tennessee."

According to the 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end, he is hungry and ready to get to Rocky Top.

"I'm very hungry," Rivera said "I'm ready to get there and show them what I got."

Rivera will get a shot of redemption when the Oregon Ducks fly into Knoxville in early September.

"I will be ready," Rivera said. "It will be a great game. I know a lot of guys on that team."

Rivera left Oregon in the spring of 2009 and played this past fall at the College of the Canyons Community College in California.
