Smith excited about heading back to Rocky Top

Tennessee commitment Tom Smith will be taking an unofficial visit to Rocky Top this Monday through Wednesday. The Florida running back wants to get to know the Vol coaching staff better and give his family a chance to check out Knoxville firsthand. It only took one summer camp for one Florida running back to realize Rocky Top was going to be his future home.

For Apopka's Tom Smith, it was love at first sight.

Now a month after his June 15th commitment Smith will return to Rocky Top for one more unofficial visit this upcoming week.

"I will get to Knoxville around 3 p.m. Monday," Smith told Saturday evening. "The reason I'm coming this week is so my parents and family can see Knoxville this time. The last time I was up it was just me."

Smith will also take this opportunity to get to know the Tennessee coaching staff a little better.

"I'm very excited about the upcoming trip to Rocky Top," Smith said. "We want to get to know the area better. We want to check out Knoxville better."

The Smith family will arrive Monday afternoon and will depart some time Wednesday.

"I won't be attending camp this week," Smith said. "I'm just going to hang out and chill with their coaching staff and get to know my future teammates."

Smith said that he is excited about his decision earlier in June.

"I'm very committed to Tennessee," Smith said. "This will be my last unofficial visit and that's to Tennessee."

Stay tuned to, which will have a follow-up interview with Smith after his visit.
