Aggies Nab 2011 QB Commit

The Texas A&M football team reeled in a big fish in the 2011 recruiting season. Aggie Websider's David Sandhop has the latest on the Aggies' newest 2011 recruit in The Tailgate premium forum.

The hottest quarterback in the state of Texas decided to play closer to home Monday night when Kerrville Tivy signal caller Johnny Manziel called the Oregon coaching staff and decommitted from the Ducks and then verbally committed to play his collegiate football at Texas A&M.

"Yes sir, I decommitted from Oregon and called the A&M staff and committed to the Aggies," said Manziel to Aggie Websider's David Sandhop.

The announcement ends the three-week courtship when Manziel carefully looked at all aspects of Texas A&M and the football program.

Manziel has generated incredible statistical numbers for Kerrville Tivy in his senior season, throwing for 1,432 yards, running for 611 yards and scoring 25 touchdowns in only four games.

Manziel becomes the first quarterback commitment of the 2010 for Texas A&M and he'll likely be the last with junior Ryan Tannehill and two true freshmen expected to return for the 2011 season.
