Websider Prognostication Panel - Texas

It's the last regular season game for the panel and they are red hot picking correctly five games in a row. Now it's time to made their selections in the biggest game of the year in the Lonestar Showdown. Aggies and Longhorns - it doesn't get any better than this.

Horns 13

Aggies, as you all know this is always a big game for us but this year the shoe is on the other foot. The sips come into this game needing a win to become bowl eligible. The horns have been embarrassed at home four (4) times this year so they are playing for pride.

The Aggies will be in traditional form, starting out slow in first half and making us all sweat. The sip defense will play well in the first half and Sherman will continue to confuse us all with his play calling. Once we get to the second half the Aggies will revert more to the run while mixing in the short passes while rolling the pocket. In traditional Sherman style he will continue to drop back as well and that is were RT will get into trouble and get sacked holding onto the ball too long trying to make a play.

However, the offense will move the ball methodically in the second half and the Aggie Defense, or should I say WRECKING CREW, will put on a clinic with G. Gilbert getting sacked six or seven times before the day is done. The Aggies win this one in the fourth quarter to finish the regular season at 9-3 and looking for a great bowl game.

Gig'em Aggies - 12-0 picking the winner of Aggie football games this year.

Horns 13

Our offense won't rack up gaudy numbers, but as good as the Horns are on defense, they aren't capable of doing what Nebraska did to us. Our balance and hurry-up will be effective enough in keeping UT on their heels when it matters. On defense, A&M's front seven will be getting after a UT offense that has struggled and our secondary is more than up to the task of doing the rest. I also have a sense, our defense will make a really big play giving us an extra touchdown. While the tables are turned and Texas is the wounded, scrapping dog, I just don't see them putting up the points needed to pull off the upset.

Aggies 17
Horns 14

This game becomes similar to the defensive showdown seen in College Station less than a week ago. Two great defenses will come out and make significant stands throughout the game. In the end, I think a last minute drive sets up an Aggie go-ahead field goal, also similar to the game against Nebraska.

Aggies 24
Horns 16

This is one of the toughest games all season to predict. Texas is in their predicament mainly because of turnovers, last in the Big 12 in turnovers. The Aggies are looking up in the standings at OSU because of turnovers, and are second to last in the conference in losing the ball. One team is going to protect the ball, and the other is going to cough it up. If turnovers don't get crazy, then it will come down to red zone efficiency and A&M has a huge advantage there both offensively and defensively. Aggies will score touchdowns while the Horns kick field goals. Thus, Aggies win.
