Aggies Land 2012 Receiver

One of the biggest need positions for head coach Mike Sherman in the 2012 class is receiver and he received good news Thursday night when he landed one of the top junior pass catchers in the state. Aggie Websider's David Sandhop has the details.

While most college coaches are trying to put the finishing touches on the Class of 2011 with Signing Day just a couple of weeks away, the Texas A&M staff is quickly switching to 2012 mode as they prepare to host a huge group of highly regarded 2012 prospects at its junior day event on-campus this weekend. Head coach Mike Sherman received some good news and kicked off the weekend in style with a verbal pledge from Baytown Lee wide receiver Jaevon Richardson. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound junior confirmed his commitment to Aggie Websider's David Sandhop Thursday evening.

"Yes sir, I committed today," Richardson said.

The Houston area product known to his friends and family as ‘Speedy" checks in at No. 34 on the Aggie Websider's Texas Top 50 list. Over the past two seasons, Richardson has amassed 1400 yards on 87 receptions and 17 touchdowns.

As a sign of the times in social networking, Richardson later sent out a message to his friends, "I am blessed to be a Texas A&M Aggie." Given their needs at wide receiver in the Class of 2012, the Texas A&M coaching staff feels blessed the playmaker will continue to wear maroon at the collegiate level.
