Aggies Sign 22

The 2011 Signing Day seemed to be a very predictable quiet event for Aggie fans until cornerback Floyd Raven decided to throw a few twists into the process. In the end, the Aggies added a quality defensive back to the class. Aggie Websider's David Sandhop has the details.

What started as a quiet national signing day for the Texas A&M coaching staff and fans, turned into a wild roller coaster ride that ended in the Aggies adding a very important 22nd signee to the 2011 class.

21 expected signatures crossed the fax machine early in the morning. Included in that group was highly-regarded Brenham defensive end/outside linebacker Brandon Alexander who ended weeks of speculation when he committed to Texas A&M over Texas on Tuesday afternoon. That appeared to be the last chapter in a 2011 class that has been filled with drama over the past month filled with many twists and turns.

But nothing would prepare A&M fans for what would happen Wednesday afternoon. East St. Johns (LA) cornerback Floyd Raven had previously decommitted from Texas A&M and reaffirmed a verbal pledge to Ole Miss for the second time a couple of weeks ago.

But in the afternoon after head coach Mike Sherman held his signing day press conference, word filtered through that Raven's Letter of Intent with Mississippi had been voided and he resent another LOI to Texas A&M.
