What was rumored to happen earlier in the week became official Friday afternoon when Desoto defensive end Michael Richardson called Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman and verbally pledged his commitment to sign with the Aggies in February 2012.
"Yes sir, I committed to A&M," said Richardson Friday afternoon via a text message. "It's official."
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound defensive stalwart will be given a look at the joker position, but he could also play inside linebacker or grow into a defensive end later in his career.
Richardson's commitment comes on the heals of a big junior day recruiting weekend. The Texas A&m staff is expecting over 20 elite recruits on Sunday. Players expected to visit include Dalton Santos, Trevor Knight, Jordan Richmond, Jonathan Gray, Tim Cole, Malcolm Brown, and Cayleb Jones to name a few.
