Michael Out For the Season

Junior tailback Christine Michael received word on Monday that he tore his ACL in Saturday's Oklahoma game and will be lost for the year according to head coach Mike Sherman

For the second consecutive season, Texas A&M junior tailback Christine Michael has been lost for the season due to injury. Aggie head coach Mike Sherman announced at his weekly press conference on Monday that Michael sustained an ACL injury to his knee and will have to undergo surgery within the next several weeks. The injury happened in the second half of Saturday's game with Oklahoma.

In 2010, Michael broke a bone in his lower leg in week eight against Texas Tech. The Beaumont native was able to return to participate in spring drills and was just 101 yards short of the 1000 yard mark with three regular seasons to go when the second injury occurred.

The burden at running back once again falls to veteran Cyrus Gray. In 2010, Gray assumed full-time duties and rattled off six straight 100+ yard games. Ben Malena, who had a 16 yard touchdown run in Norman after Michael's injury, moves into the back-up spot while true freshman Will Randolph serves as the No. 3 running back but will likely redshirt barring further injuries at the position.
