One of the top 2014 wide receivers in Texas is KD Cannon (6-0, 155, 4.5) from the East Texas town of Mount Pleasant.
As a sophomore, KD Cannon caught 61 passes for 1,004 yards and 10 TDs, and was the offensive star for a Mount Pleasant Tigers team that improved from 1-9 in 2010 to 3-7 in 2011.
KD was named the District 13-4A Newcomer of the Year.
KD considers his number one strength as a player to be his abiility to go get the ball.
You can see that ability to get to the ball in KD Cannon's Sophomore Video Highlights , as well as his speed and ability to make difficult catches in traffic.
I asked KD what NFL or college player he would most compare your play to, and KD said NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver and kick returner DeSean Jackson from the Philadelphia Eagles.
KD is running track during the spring, a member of Mount Pleasant's 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams and with a personal best of 21.88 in the 200 meters.
Growing up KD was a fan of Miami.
KD is being recruited by Texas A&M and he has a strong interest in the Aggies, saying the two schools he is currently most interested in are Texas A&M and Oklahoma St.
The thing KD is looking for most in a college is "a good education."
KD has made one visit to Texas A&M for the state 7-on-7 tourney and thought Texas A&M was "great".
KD wants to return to Texas A&M to get a closer look at the school and wants to visit other colleges, but he does not have any specific plans.
KD wants to work on his footwork and would like to lead Mount Pleasant deep into the playoffs and maybe win state.
When we asked KD what else he'd like people to know about him, he said "That I'm a great person that loves to have fun and a real outgoing person."
KD Cannon was No 30 on the initial Aggie Websider Texas Top 50 for 2014 published March 3rd, but after watching more film of KD, we think he has top 20 talent.
The Aggie Websider will continue to follow the recruitment of this top 2014 wide receiver prospect.
