COLLEGE STATION, TX-Texas A&M head football coach Kevin Sumlin announced today that he has suspended junior linebacker Steven Jenkins and sophomore defensive back Howard Matthews for one game each for a violation of team policy.
Jenkins saw limited action in 2011 as a sophomore transfer but was one of the most impressive linebackers in the spring earning a spot on the first team defense heading into fall practices.
As a true freshman, Matthews saw action late in the season. His breakout performance came against Texas Tech when he had a sack and four QB hurries. He is vying for a starting spot at safety in 2012.
