Walker Announces Decision Date

One of the top interior defensive linemen in the state of Texas is ready to pick his school and end the process. Aggie Websider's David Sandhop interviewed the big man has a date for his announcement and his final Top 5.

Four-star defensive tackle Hardreck Walker has been a highly sought-after interior line prospect with over 15 offers. Among his list of suitors who have extended a scholarship are Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Missouri, and Texas A&M to name a few. The Spring Westfield (TX) product has decided he's seen enough and has plans to announce his decision on Friday.

"I'm announcing my college choice on July 1," Walker said. "At first, recruiting was fun with all of the attention, but I need to stay focused on my senior season so I decided to commit before my senior season."

While the 6-foot-2, 285-pound recruit did not provide any hints into the team he plans to choose on Sunday, but he did indicate the list of schools he calls his finalists.

"I'll be choosing between Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Missouri, Northwestern, and Arkansas," Walker said. "Oklahoma just offered last week, but they came to the table too late."

Walker plans to keep fans of those five schools in suspense for the next three days, but he did provide details into the important criteria in picking his school for the next four years.

"I really felt close with the coaching staff and I'm comfortable in the direction of the program," Walker said. "I've also built a close relationship with some of the current players, and I'm getting close with the signing class. Just being apart of a situation like that is important to me."

Asked one last time to provide some hints into his final choice, Walker joked, "You'll have to wait until Sunday like everybody else."
