When the season opener between Louisiana Tech and Texas A&M was delayed due to Hurricane Isaac, nobody figured the contest would turn into a battle of two ranked teams. But that is the case on the eve of the game in Shreveport. Here are some interesting facts about the opponents in Saturday's game.

Here's some interesting facts about Saturday's match-up between Louisiana Tech and Texas A&M.

1) Louisiana Tech has the nation's longest regular season winning streak at 12. The Bulldogs last lost in the regular season on October 1, 2011 to Hawaii. Ironically, the Hawaii loss was the third in a row, but marked the beginning of this impressive run as the team finally got comfortable with Sonny Dykes' offense.

2) The mid-season turnaround can also be attributed to turnover margin. Amazingly, during the current 12-game winning streak, Louisiana Tech has won the turnover battle in all 12 games with a cumulative margin of an astounding +26. In 2012, the Bulldogs are No. 2 in the nation in turnover margin at 2.20/game (15 takeaways, 4 giveaways).

3) At 5-0, Louisiana Tech entered the AP poll at No. 23. It's the first time the Bulldogs have been nationally ranked since 1999. Texas A&M is also ranked at No. 21. The Bulldogs haven't beaten a ranked team since 2005.

4) Louisiana Tech has won its last three games against BCS conference teams. The Bulldogs beat Ole Miss 27-7 last year, and have beaten Illinois and Virginia on the road in 2012.

6) In comparison, Texas A&M ranks No. 8 in scoring offense and No. 12 in total offense. The Aggies rank No. 29 in passing yards and No. 20 in rushing yards with the ground production of QB Johnny Manziel.

7) Louisiana Tech has faced the No. 117, 113, and 108 ranked defenses averaging 581 yards/game. Against Illinois (No. 37) and Virginia (No. 72) defenses, the Bulldogs' offense averaged just 394 yards/game.

8) Texas A&M's defense is ranked No. 45 in total defense (yards) giving up 363 yards a contest. Only one of Louisiana Tech's opponents has a higher ranked defense (Illinois, No. 37).

9) Louisiana Tech's defense ranks second to last in the NCAA at No. 118, ahead of only Baylor. They are dead last in passing defense (No. 119).

10) Louisiana Tech is the most penalized team in the NCAA being flagged 47 times for 464 yards. By contrast, Texas A&M has been penalized 28 times for only 268 yards.
