The mystery appears to be over concerning the up-and-down recruiting of Butler Community College linebacker Tommy Sanders. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound sophomore informed his coaches and the media on Tuesday evening that he plans to sign with Texas A&M on Wednesday when the mid-term signing period begins.
Sanders initially visited Texas A&M in mid-November and quickly named the Aggies his leader, However, the Butler product took an official visit to Ohio State in early December and left Columbus naming the Buckeyes his new leader. Sanders again threw his suitors a curve and took a late official visit to South Carolina last weekend. By the end of the weekend, the Gamecocks felt they were in the driver's seat to land the highly coveted pass rushing linebacker.
But on Tuesday night, his recruitment came full circle as he intends to sign with head coach Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies.
The Georgia native registered 70 tackles but his best stats come behind the line of scrimmage where he had eight sacks and a hefty 20 tackles for loss. Sanders is the second mid-term JUCO linebacker expected to sign with Texas A&M joining Hutchinson inside linebacker Kenny Flowers. The Aggies graduate two of its three starting linebackers after next month's Cotton Bowl.
Sanders will have two years of eligibility remaining.
