This marks the 52nd meeting between Texas A&M and Texas State with the Aggies owning a 39-12 advantage. The teams have met at least once every year since the series started in 1987. A&M has won the last two meetings and six of the last seven played since 2007. The Aggies are 5-2 in games played in San Marcos. Texas State enters the fray with a 17-22 overall record and the Bobcats own a 9-6 mark in Southland Conference action. The Bobcats lost two of three last weekend at San Jose State, but last Tuesday they blanked Baylor, 3-0, in San Marcos.
As a team, the Bobcats have a .267 batting average paced by Cody Lovejoy with a .350 average, five doubles, one home run and 15 RBI in 35 games (29 starts). Andrew Stumph (.320) and Kevin Sah (.306) are both hitting over .300. Stumph 12 runs, six doubles, one triple and 20 RBI in 27 games and Sah has 26 runs, seven doubles, two triples, one home run and 17 RBI in 37 games (30 starts).
The pitching staff owns a 4.59 ERA and is holding opponents to a .272 batting average with 275 strikeouts in 339.1 innings.
