Pair of DB's Suspended

The Texas Aggie football took a potential hit on Monday when the university announced the immediate suspension of two starting defensive backs. Juniors Deshazor Everett and Floyd Raven were arrested on misdemeanor assault charges and were out on bail.

Texas A&M football players Deshazor Everett and Floyd Raven, Sr. turned themselves into authorities on Monday after they were involved in an April 7 fight. The pair are charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief according to the College Station police report.

Per Texas A&M athletics department policy, the two student-athletes are suspended from all team activities, with the exception of academics and medical, pending further investigation into the matter.

Everett earned a starting spot in the Aggie secvondary midway through the 2012 season, and his interception of an AJ McCarren pass at the goal with under two minutes preserved win over Alabama. He is projected to be a potential early entry into the 2014 NFL Draft as a top cornerback in the SEC.

Raven saw spot duty at cornerback and special teams as a sophomore in 2012, but he won the starting safety spot in the spring and is expected to solidify an otherwise experienced secondary.

There was no word Monday as to the length or severity of the current suspension.
