Websider Prognosticator Panel - Vanderbilt

The panel went on a one week hiatus, but they are back for another bold prediction. This time it's the Aggies and Commodores in Kyle Field. What was once an "easy" game by most pundits, the Aggies must tighten up on defense and run the ball successfully.

This is now "who will play" when picking the score. I'm going no Johnny, lots of Evans, a pissed off O-line, and play action for protection and to keep the defense honest. Yes, that play action stuff where you have a running back behind the quarterback on just about every down, call me crazy. I think the defense is a tick better this week only due to the level of competition. Run the ball, run the clock, get out with a win.

I hate to pick a loss but Vandy just beat Georgia and I don't think Manziel plays. Without Manziel, we will be playing catch-up from the beginning with Joeckel. Matt finds a rhythm eventually but will crater after the half bringing the young freshman Hill to the mound. Hill will help the Ags rally but not without some costly errors. And our D will be its usually porous self. This will be a hard game to watch Ags.

Ags try again to secure their first SEC home victory of the season. This time it's against the Dores who are coming off an emotional win against UGA. The fact that they have some semblance of a running game means they put points on the board. The fact that JFF may be out or will be playing reserved means less points than normal for the Ags, unless the ground game is unleashed to its full extent. Ags 35, Dores 27.

This game should be interesting. Does Johnny play and if so does he play well. Vandy will bring the game to Ags and try to exploit the defensive line and linebacker play. However, we hold them and see a little spark in the defense.

Rough day at the office for the Aggies this Saturday. We are either dealing with an injured Johnny or a backup quarterback. Vanderbilt beat Georgia last week--will they have a hangover or will their momentum carry over against the Aggies? Additionally, 11 AM games tend to fare better for visitors. Ags in a close one.

I know Aggie fans are gun shy about the team's defense after giving up 45 points to Auburn. But Auburn is more physical and frankly more talented in crucial position than Texas A&M. Vanderbilt is no longer the weekly SEC joke it once was . They have a franchise receiver, productive runners, and a formidable OL on paper. In reality, the OL has been disappointing and the Commodoes are starting their back-up QB. The Vandy defense can't slow down the A&M offense regardless of who is playing. Aggies simply have too much offensive talent, and as much as the defense has struggled, they do create a few stops each game and they will be the better team.
