COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M men's basketball head coach Billy Kennedy announced Thursday the addition of Sidy Ndir, a 6-foot-3 guard and native of Senegal, to the Aggies' signing class.
"Sidy is an athletic guard who can really shoot the basketball and score in bunches," Kennedy said. "He's also got the ability to play multiple positions on the floor. His dad is a coach overseas, so he's got a great understanding of the game."
Ndir is described as an athletic lefty guard with solid ball handling skills who has the ability to create offensive chances for both himself and his teammates.
"If he was a typical high school kid playing in the United States, a lot of people would evaluate him as one of the top-50 players in this year's senior class," Frank Burlison of Burlison on Basketball scouting services said of Ndir. "I thought he was one of the two best guards at the ADIDAS event this last summer. A lot of people haven't got a chance to see him, but I really believe he's got the potential to be one of the top freshman guards in the SEC next season."
Ndir drew national attention following his showing at the 2012 and 2013 ADIDAS Nations events in Orange County, Calif., where he ran point guard for Team Africa. Following the conclusion of the 2013 event he was named Most Outstanding International Player.
Along with guard Alex Robinson, who signed with Texas A&M on Wednesday, Ndir is set to join the Aggie basketball program next fall in advance of the 2014-15 season.
