Missouri comes back for 28-21 win over A&M

No. 21 Texas A&M led No. 5 Missouri 14-7 at the half, but Missouri came back to defeat the Aggies 28-21, earning an SEC East championship. James Franklin passed for 233 yards and 2 TDs and rushed for 80 yards to lead Missouri. Johnny Manziel and the Aggie offense were held to 379 yards and 21 points by a rugged Tiger defense.

Johnny Manziel and the high powered Aggie offense were held to 379 yards and 21 points by a rugged Tiger defense.

On their second possession of the game, Johnny Manziel led the Aggies on a 10-play, 65-yard drive, with Tra Carson breaking loose on a 29-yard touchdown run that gave Texas A&M a 7-0 lead with 6:34 left in the first quarter.

Missouri and Texas A&M exchanged punts until midway through thye second quarter when the Tigers mounted a 7-play, 94-yard tdrive, as James Franklin threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Dorial Green-Beckham to tie the game at 7-all.

Texas A&M quickly responded, when Brandon Williams picked up 43 yards on a run, then Johnny Manziel threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Derel Walker to give the Aggies a 14-7 lead with 4:06 left in the first half.

Missouri drove to the Aggie 29-yard line before missing a 47-yard field goal on the last play of the first half, leaving Texas A&M with a 14-7 halftime lead.

Missouri received the second half kickoff and drove 75 yards in 7 plays, the big play a 35-yard completion from James Franklin to L'Damian Washington, followed by a 2-yard touchdown run by Marcus Murphy to tie the game 14-14 at the 12:15 mark in the third quarter.

Missouri forced an Aggie punt, and the punt was returned by the Tigers' Marcus Murphy 31 yards to their 43-yard line. Missouri drove 57 yards in 8 plays, and James Franklin tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to L'Damian Washington to give the Tigers a 21-14 lead with 6:26 to go in the third quarter.

Texas A&M picked up a couple of first downs, driving to the Missouri 45-yard line, before a false start penalty forced an Aggie punt. Missouri drove from their 13-yard line to their 48-yard line before a 50-yard Tiger punt pinned the Aggies at their 2-yard line.

Johnny Manziel led the Aggies on a 9-play 98-yard drive, with Manziel completing 4 passes and Trey Williams picking up 43 yards on 2 carries, before Ben Malena scored on a 7-yard run to tie the game 21-all with 10:43 left in the game.

Missouri and Texas A&M each punted twice before Missouri took possession at their 34-yard line with 4:47 left in the game. Facing 3rd-and-1, Henry Josey burst up the middle 57 yards for a Tiger touchdown to give Missouri a 28-21 lead.

Texas A&M went 3-and-out and Missouri ran out the clock to preserve the 28-21 win over Texas A&M, winning the SEC East and setting up a matchup with Auburn in the SEC championship game next week.

Missouri led Texas A&M in total yards, 463 to 379, and in first downs, 22 to 17.

James Franklin completed 18 of 28 passes for 233 yards and 2 TDs and rushed for 80 yards on 18 carries to lead Missouri. L'Damian Washington caught 7 passes for 98 yards and 1 TD while Dorial Green-Beckham caught 7 passes for 93 yards and 1 TD. Henry Josey rushed for 96 yards and 1 TD on 13 carries.

For the Aggies, Johnny Manziel completed 24 of 35 passes for 195 yards and 1 TD and rushed for 21 yards. Brandon Williamsled Aggie rushers with 57 yards on 6 carries, and Trey Williams had 48 yards on 6 carries. Travis Labhart caught 7 passes for 81 yards and Derel Walker had 4 catches for 60 yards and 1 TD.

Texas A&M finishes the regular season 8-4, 4-4 in the SEC, and will wait until next week to learn what bowl game it will be playing in.
