Men's Basketball Notebook

Texas A&M's men's basketball team continues to struggle, falling to another opponent to which it should not have lost. The Ags lost 80-82 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday night at Reed Arena. A&M travels to San Antonio to face the UTSA Roadrunners at the Alamodome in a FoxSports televised match-up.

Of note: Head Coach Melvin Watkins on Saturday night's loss: "We are supposed to beat them. This is a game we have to win. We have to come out and get this win. With the future competition we have on our schedule, we have to win these games. We have to make sure our kids don't throw in the towel for the whole season."

Who's hot: Freshman point guard Acie Law. Against the UTSA Roadrunners, Law led four Aggie scorers in double figures with 15 points and five assists.

About UTSA: Saturday night, UTSA stopped its four-game losing streak with a 53-45 victory over the Baylor Bears at the Ferrell Center in Waco.

Final Four preview: Maybe not on the court, but Thursday night's Aggies-Roadrunners game will serve as a test-run for the 2004 NCAA Men's Final Four which will be hosted in San Antonio's Alamodome. Off the court, the NCAA will be observing preparation and operation in planning for the big show.

Dusting off the cobwebs: The Texas A&M-UTSA game will be the first college basketball event in the Alamodome since Texas-Michigan State in the South Regional finals on March 30.
