Katy CB/WR Ryan Mouton will host Kansas HC Mark Mangino and OC Nick Quartaro for an in-home visit Tuesday (1/13). Kansas, which is Mouton's only current offer, is beginning to face competition from Texas A&M and Texas Tech, with some interest being shown by Houston.
Recruiting for the Katy star was curtailed until after winning the Texas 5A Division II championship. Also of some concern for the recruiters were academics. Part of that problem was alleviated by Mouton's ACT score of 21. He is currently working hard to improve his GPA in the core courses to become fully qualified.
Texas A&M has discussed the possibility of dual-signing, however in light of the new ACT score, that "might not" be necessary.
After starring on both sides of the ball in Katy's championship game (playing sparingly on offense-he caught the game winning 51 yard TD pass; and equally important on defense held Southlake Carroll's leading pass receiver to 2 catches for 13 yards); and clarification of the academic issues, look for recruiting to "heat up".
