Junior Update: Houston Westside RB R.J. Jackson

Houston Westside RB R.J Jackson made a huge jump in the Texas Hot 100. Originally the No. 87 player on our Hot 100 list, he jumped to No. 68.

Digest these numbers: 1,021 rushing yards (9.3 yard avg), 19 rushing touchdowns, 5 receiving and 2 on kickoff returns for 26 Total TDs.

With numbers like that, you can see why big time colleges have been offering him scholarships early and often.

The four colleges that have stepped up to the plate so far are as follows: "Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M and Houston Cougars", according to R.J. Jackson.

Jackson told TheInsiders.com: "It's been real exciting getting these offers from such good schools. Thursday night, I was at Texas A&M's night of champions, I had a great time."

It's not surprising Jackson has been receiving so much attention for his junior football honors read like a novel -- 1st-team all- greater Houston, 1st-team all-district at running back and cornerback.

Not to shabby for a junior, so what about this season?

"I'd like to increase those numbers this year," he said, "And with the team we have coming back, we should be in good shape. We have almost all of our skilled players back and our younger guys are good so we should be right back at the top this year."

Westside's only 2 losses came against Fort Bend Hightower and La Marque. "We should have beat them both," Jackson said. "We're not gonna let that happen this year."

Jackson, who said he's currently 6-0, 197-pounds, is looking forward to getting the season started.

Vitals according to R.J: "GPA: 3.0, bench: 245, squat: 405, power clean: 275, 40: 4.5."

Jackson will attend the MSLCombines/TheInsiders.com camp/clinic at The University of Houston the first weekend of April.
